London Landlords Require A License for Rental Properties

All small landlords in London will need city issued licenses for all their rental properties by March 1, 2010. There is a $25.00 annual fee for each property.Owners of four rental units or fewer per location (duplex as an example) must complete a checklist certifying compliance with current city property standards bylaws for each tenant unit in a building and proof of a recently completed and passed fire inspection.

The City of London's goal is to ensure safe, healthy and liveable properties for all residents. Under the new city bylaw, landlords must fill out checklists related to their buildings, share the information with their tenants and submit the reports to city hall.
